Our client is an established precision subcontract machining business with a rich history serving demanding markets. Under new leadership, it has just completed significant investment in its Castle Bromwich facility, including state-of-the-art 5-axis machining centres and upgraded production lines. It also has finishing capabilities in-house, so it can offer customers a complete solution under one roof.

That means it can quote highly competitively while still achieving a fantastic margin, a rare advantage when bidding for complex work. Growth plans are ambitious, and they need a Technical Sales Engineer to help deliver them.
The role You will combine technical sales, estimating and costing, owning the process from first enquiry through to a won order. Key responsibilities include:
Winning new business and growing existing accounts across aerospace, F1, motorsport and defence
Reviewing customer drawings, models and specifications to assess manufacturability and technical requirements
Estimating and costing complex machining projects accurately, including machining time, materials, tooling, finishing and outsourced processes
Preparing and submitting competitive quotations, balancing winning the work with protecting margin
Working closely with programming, production and quality teams to confirm capacity, lead times and process routes
Building strong relationships with customers, buyers and engineers, and acting as their technical point of contact
Managing the sales pipeline, following up quotations and converting enquiries into orders
Identifying new market opportunities and prospects, including through customer visits and industry events
Supporting contract review, pricing negotiations and customer feedback
Contributing to the commercial strategy of a business on a clear growth path
