The role:
This is a rare, full-spectrum technical estimating role. You won't just be putting together quotes — you'll own the whole journey from enquiry through to order and delivery:
- Reviewing customer enquiries and technical specifications, working out material, process and testing requirements
- Estimating and costing jobs, sourcing material from suppliers where needed
- Preparing and issuing quotations, negotiating where required and processing orders through to delivery
- Building close working relationships with the production team to make sure what's quoted can be made, on time and to spec
- Acting as a key point of contact for customers — this is customer service and technical support as much as it is estimating
About you:
- Come from a manufacturing or engineering background — ideally from a smaller, subcontract or precision engineering environment where you've had to wear more than one hat (estimating, technical, customer-facing)
- Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements
- Methodical and precise: small errors here can have real consequences once something reaches the shop floor
- Confident communicating with both customers and internal production teams
- Knowledge of tube manufacturing or non-ferrous metals (brass, copper, copper-nickel, aluminium) is a bonus, not a requirement
- Happy to be based on-site, with occasional customer visits (mileage paid)
