Freelance Studio Engineer : Podcast Studio (Clerkenwell, London)

We're looking for an experienced, reliable and friendly Freelance Studio Engineer to join our growing podcast studio in Clerkenwell, London.

This is a client facing role, so we're looking for someone who is personable, professional and confident working directly with a wide range of clients. You'll be responsible for preparing the studio, managing audio and video recording sessions, and ensuring every production runs smoothly from start to finish.

About the role

  • Freelance position with flexible hours - no guaranteed set hours.
  • Based at our podcast studio in Clerkenwell, London.
  • Ideally located within around a 60 minute commute (approximately 10 to 15 miles, depending on transport links) to allow for flexibility with bookings.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and operate professional audio and video recording equipment.
  • Prepare the studio before each session, ensuring everything is ready for clients.
  • Monitor recording sessions and troubleshoot any technical issues.
  • Pack down and reset the studio between bookings.
  • Welcome clients and create a professional, relaxed and friendly studio experience.
  • Organise and securely upload recorded audio and video files, ensuring accurate file naming and backup in line with studio workflows.
  • Maintain studio equipment and keep the space organised and presentation ready.
  • Work independently, managing studio operations without supervision.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience working in a podcast, recording, broadcast or media studio is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of professional audio and video production workflows.
  • Comfortable operating cameras, microphones, lighting and recording equipment.
  • A genuine people person with excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to work autonomously.
  • Calm under pressure with strong problem solving skills.
  • Reliable, punctual and flexible with availability.
