Position Summary

As the Python Lead, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of Python-based AI solutions. You will mentor engineers, establish best practices, ensure code quality, and collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust software systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with architectural oversight and team leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Python-based AI applications, APIs, and services.
  • Guide and mentor a team of software engineers and data scientists; conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and promote engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize machine learning models, including feature engineering, model deployment, monitoring, and retraining pipelines.
  • Define and enforce software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, version control standards, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop scalable, modular, and maintainable code with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with product management to translate requirements into technical roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends in AI, ML, data engineering, and Python ecosystem; evaluate and integrate relevant tools and frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards applicable to AI systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree (minimum) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; additional certifications in Python, AI/ML are a plus.
  • Experience: 6+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on Python; at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead developer role.
  • Proficiency in Python with strong knowledge of modern frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django) and libraries used.
