We’re looking to employ a team of two motivated enthusiastic multi-trade operatives to join our small but fast paced team in Scotland.

About the Role

The multi-trade site operatives will be responsible for performing a range of skilled construction tasks across various trades, including roofing, carpentry, and general maintenance.

The role requires versatile individuals with a broad skills set who can adapt to different tasks and projects, ensuring high standards of workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.

You will be based from home, but cover North/South Ayrshire, Edinburgh and Glasgow. This role does require that you need to be on call over the weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction sites, including cleaning debris and setting up materials.
  • Assist in demolition tasks when necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness on site.
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks on construction sites and equipment.
  • Address minor repairs and maintenance issues promptly
  • Perform roofing tasks, including repairs and installations, including, but not limited to:
  • Pitched roofs: slate, tiles & metals
  • Flat roofs: felts, single ply membrane, liquid coatings
  • Inspect roofs for damage and determine necessary repairs
  • Present and report further opportunities to the project team for longevity of the roof coverings

Essential Experience/Qualifications

  • Work at heights

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in roofing work
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Enhanced DBS Check
  • Relevant trade qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in multiple construction trades, with roofing skills as a core requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and health and safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
  • Excellent problem solving and attention to detail
  • Adaptable and flexible to meet the demands of different projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Be able to coordinate, communicate effectively to minimise disruption to school operations with school staff.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work and ensuring customer satisfaction

Working conditions

  • Work is primarily performed on live Education buildings, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
  • The role may require lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory
