The Role:
As a Trials Technician in our R&D team, you’ll design, implement, analyse and report on field and glasshouse trials for new, existing and competitor products—ensuring our research programme is delivered on time, within budget and to GEP/ORETO standards. You’ll help drive product innovation by turning high quality data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and report on field and glasshouse trials, including competitor products and experimental processes, following EH&S policies.
- Manage your own trials: stock control, applications, assessments (data collection), digital capture (photos, drone) and meticulous record-keeping.
- Monitor trial facilities and calibrate equipment in line with external standards.
- Manage data in ARM; produce clear outputs (graphs, tables, presentations) and contribute to annual data reviews; prepare draft trial reports.
- Validate, analyse and interpret trial data; identify new product opportunities.
- Ensure all registration work meets GEP/ORETO standards and complies with relevant work instructions.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a science discipline, ideally biological.
- Minimum 1 years’ recent experience in research and trials for registration purposes.
- Strong skills in experimental design, statistics, and report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ARM and drones is a plus.
- Full driving licence and good practical horticultural skills.
- Organised, methodical, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible to work weekends on a rota and physically capable of manual work.
