The Role
We’re looking for a Production Assistant Manager to support our Howden site. This is a development opportunity, offering a clear pathway to Production Manager level. You’ll play a key role in coordinating day-to-day production activities, leading teams across production and packing areas, and ensuring operations run efficiently to meet business targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Planning
- Plan and organise shift patterns to meet production demands
- Coordinate daily workloads across production, packing, and teams
- Monitor materials, stock levels, and production flow to keep operations running smoothly
- Manage agency staffing requirements within budget
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop the production teams
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management
- Drive a “One Team, One Goal” culture across the site
- Support succession planning and team capability development
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across all activities
- Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and site procedures
- Support audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements
- Take responsibility for safe operations during out-of-hours working
- Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and production processes
- Monitor KPIs and production data to drive performance improvements
- Support continuous improvement and change initiatives across the site
About You
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience managing or leading teams within a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong organisational and planning skills in fast-paced settings
- Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels
- Experience driving performance, continuous improvement, and change
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
