Join the European investment team of an established private credit platform that holds its own paper.

The firm lends to sponsor-backed and founder-owned businesses across Northern Europe and the UK, writing unitranche and senior secured facilities from its own funds, taking sole-lender positions and holding the entire ticket rather than clubbing or syndicating out.

No distribution desk, no syndication risk, no deal that gets done because the market will absorb it.

One question on every transaction: does the money come back.

The platform has built a strong reputation in the Northern European mid-market since its founding, backed by long-term institutional capital and known in sponsor and advisory circles for moving fast and standing behind its commitments.

The London team leads UK and Northern European origination and sits at the center of the firm's growth into one of the more active direct lenders in the region.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Vice President to join the London investment team, leading live direct lending transactions from first screen through to close and through the life of the loan.

You will run the deal team on your transactions, own the credit paper and final recommendation to investment committee, lead diligence sessions with sponsors and management teams directly, and stay with your credits afterwards rather than handing them to a separate portfolio group.

Small investment team means your judgement is the judgement, and your name carries the recommendation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead transaction execution end to end: originate, screen, structure and close, with accountability for the credit view that goes to committee.
  • Own the credit paper and present the recommendation to investment committee, defending the case under scrutiny.
  • Direct diligence workstreams, coordinating financial, commercial, legal, insurance and technical advisers, and pressure-testing what comes back before it enters the model.
  • Lead structuring and documentation negotiations alongside counsel, covering covenant packages, EBITDA definitions and add-back treatment, and permitted baskets.
  • Manage a portfolio of credits post-close: covenant compliance, quarterly reporting, amendments, waivers and add-on financings, including stressed situations.
  • Drive origination through direct sponsor, adviser and debt advisory relationships, converting coverage into a live pipeline.
  • Mentor and review the work of Associates and Analysts on your deals; sign off on model integrity and downside case construction.

What We're Looking For

  • 5 to 9 years of relevant post-graduate experience, including direct deal-lead or co-lead experience in leveraged finance, direct lending, private credit, debt advisory, restructuring or financial sponsors.
  • A track record of taking transactions from screen to close with minimal senior oversight, including committee presentation.
  • Strong modelling and structuring judgement: building or supervising a credit model from a blank page, with a downside case that reflects how the business actually fails, is assumed baseline competence at this level.
  • Deep working knowledge of leveraged loan documentation and the terms that decide recovery, including covenants, EBITDA adjustments and baskets.
  • The commercial judgement and presence to defend a credit view in a room of peers and senior stakeholders, and to say no to a deal that doesn't work.
  • Existing origination relationships with sponsors, advisers or debt advisory desks across Northern Europe or the UK.
  • Degree educated in Finance, Economics or a related discipline.

Existing right to work in the UK.

German, French, Dutch or a Nordic language is a real advantage given the breadth of Northern European coverage.

  • Applicants whose experience is transaction services, financial due diligence, audit, corporate banking relationship management, loan operations, fund accounting or strategy consulting will not be considered for this seat.

Why Join?

  • Principal-side ownership at deal-lead level: you run the process, write the paper, and carry the credit view.
  • A sole-lender model that holds the whole position, so the underwriting has to be right and the judgement you build is genuinely your own.
  • Deals held through their full life, including amendments, add-ons and the occasional stressed situation, where credit instinct is actually formed.
  • One of the fastest growing parts of European private capital, on a platform with a strong institutional backing and a defined path to Principal/Director and carry participation.
  • Competitive base and bonus, with the level shaped around the right person rather than fixed to a title.
