Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Actuary, you will be a key member of the London actuarial team and play a central role in driving both business-as-usual and project initiatives. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across actuarial, finance, claims, and underwriting, helping to elevate the team’s capabilities while owning critical aspects of the quarterly reserving process. You’ll manage stakeholders, contribute to syndicate reporting, validate inputs for capital setting, and work with the Actuarial Management team to generate and support reserving results.
This is a broad and dynamic role that offers exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders and actuarial functions. You’ll be empowered to work autonomously in a supportive environment—ideal if you’re entrepreneurial, eager to take ownership, and ready to make a tangible impact while collaborating with others.
- Producing syndicate deliverables and helping develop wider Everest Insurance International (EII) actuarial capabilities.
- Conducting quarterly reserve reviews across international platforms, setting key actuarial assumptions and methods for GAAP and SII, and reporting results to internal stakeholders, auditors, Group, Lloyd’s, and the PRA.
- Contributing to reserving and capital discussions with underwriting, pricing, claims, finance, and reinsurance to improve underwriting outcomes.
- Supporting business planning through actuarial analysis and clearly communicating results to stakeholders.
- Performing regular portfolio analysis across classes.
- Collaborating with Pricing Actuaries and underwriters to share insights and support actuarial assumptions.
- Ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Developing tools and outputs that leverage reserving data to enhance underwriting performance and deliver valuable management information to stakeholders and senior management.
- Supporting the production of actuarial function component reports, aligning with EIID AFR where possible.
- Establishing and maintaining controls over model inputs, parameters, judgments, and outputs.
As Everest Insurance International continues to grow, you’ll be involved in the actuarial team’s evolution—delivering quality tools and insights through:
- Identifying, planning, and leading enhancements to reserving and capital modelling tools and approaches.
- Modelling and coordinating parameter updates.
- Enhancing monitoring, MI, and communication of key risks.
- Upholding best practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- You’ll be highly visible across the business, with opportunities to collaborate, learn, and contribute across functions.
Qualifications
- Nearly or newly qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) or a similar designation. A bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
- Solid experience in GI reserving and capital modelling.
- Strong reserving and model-building skills.
- Familiarity with Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
- Ability to clearly communicate modelling processes and results to stakeholders, verbally and in written reports or presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, SQL, Power BI, and ResQ.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Flexible, enthusiastic, with a strong appetite to learn, network, and grow.
