Team Overview: Led by Terry Allen, the UK&I Professional Indemnity is a team of five underwriters that have, since 2016, built a portfolio of GWP USD 86m. We maintain a thoughtful approach to risk selection, with a focus on client engagement and relationship building. The account is well diversified by profession, attachment point, territory, and risk profile, with an even split of open market and DUA business. The team prides itself on their service levels and expertise, providing timely and effective support to brokers, and responding to an ever-evolving risk landscape to consistently deliver a profitable portfolio of risk.
About the role: This is a new underwriting position which will help support the expansion of the Professional Lines account in line with Syndicate and Company plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of Everest internal plans.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop a sound understanding of the underwriting strategy for areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate to deliver the marketing plan, including maintenance of existing broker & customer relationships and developing new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan.
- Commit to developing underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.
- Developing the skills required to manage a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting & pricing, claims, referral, processing, broker and client relationship aspects; and servicing any new business request in the same way.
- Renew DUA accounts through clear and effective communication with internal stakeholders.
- Represent Everest at meetings in the office and during visits to brokers, Coverholders and other customers as required.
- Refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
- Monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own account, and support the Head of Professional Lines across the broader portfolio.
- Liaise with the Claims Manager on claims related issues.
- Participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required.
- Ensure all processing and MI is up-to-date in respect of any individual accounts.
- Monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
- Assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website as required.
- Underwrite in compliance with Lloyd's, Company and Everest prescribed underwriting standards.
- Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses.
