Role Purpose
Everest Insurance is seeking an experienced Claims Adjuster to join our Casualty Claims team in London. Reporting to the Head of Casualty Claims, you will handle, investigate, evaluate, and resolve a portfolio of complex Casualty, Healthcare, and Medmal claims. You will play an important role within our collaborative Syndicate and Company platforms (UK), applying sound judgment to manage claims strategies while working closely with colleagues. This position involves partnership across the organisation, offering guidance to underwriters and actuaries, and representing Everest in stewardship meetings with customers and brokers.
Key Accountabilities
- Claims Management: Investigate, analyse, and evaluate liability, damages, and cost exposures for complex claims. Develop and implement well‑considered resolution plans, including negotiation and settlement.
- Coverage Analysis: Review and analyse complex coverage matters and prepare clear coverage correspondence.
- Reserving: Set and maintain timely, accurate case reserves in accordance with company policy.
- Reporting: Prepare Case Summary Reports and Large Claims Reports for matters with significant reserves or litigation activity.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate and oversee external experts, including adjusters and legal professionals. Provide oversight of Third‑Party Administrators (TPAs).
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members to share technical knowledge, contribute to peer reviews, and support a positive, cohesive team environment.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate with underwriters on policy construction and drafting. Share insight on claim trends, data, and risk considerations to support well‑informed business decisions.
- External Engagement: Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, and reinsurers. Attend client meetings and relevant industry events to support strong relationships and business development.
- Strategy & Review: Participate in claim reviews, stewardship meetings, and claim audits.
Operational Excellence
- Support the delivery and continuous improvement of claims data, performance metrics, and management information.
- Identify conduct, performance, or compliance issues and escalate appropriately in line with governance requirements.
- Ensure claims operations meet internal and external quality standards, audit expectations, regulatory obligations, and privacy standards.
- Maintain effective controls to support financial, operational, reputational, and compliance risk management.
- Ensure claims data, analytics, and reporting are accurate, timely, and relevant.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience handling claims within a global insurance company across multiple underwriting platforms, jurisdictions, and markets; or significant relevant legal experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Casualty, Healthcare, and Medmal lines.
- Systems Knowledge: Experience with London Market claims systems (e.g., ECF, IMR) and internal systems such as ClaimCenter.
- Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of claims processes, litigation, arbitration, trial procedures, and the wider regulatory environment.
- Education: ACII qualification or degree‑level education preferred.
