The actuarial function is instrumental in supporting and influencing the business and longer‑term ambitions, with significant investment and wider group collaboration in establishing a best‑in‑class actuarial set‑up. Role Purpose
A key member of the actuarial function, this role is split between supporting Everest Insurance (Ireland) DAC (EIID) and the Lloyd’s syndicate capital team. The role operates with a dual functional alignment: EIID‑related responsibilities are delivered under the oversight of the Deputy Head of Actuarial Function, while Lloyd’s syndicate capital responsibilities are delivered in support of and aligned to the Head of Capital. For the role holder, this dual alignment accelerates development through broader exposure across Solvency II Standard Formula and Lloyd’s internal model approaches, regular interaction with senior actuarial and capital leaders, and tailored mentorship across both workstreams. The mix of quarterly/annual solvency and internal model activity builds technical depth and business partnering skills, strengthening career opportunities across capital, risk and wider actuarial roles.
Approximately 60–70% of the role will focus on EIID, producing quarterly Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) calculations under the Standard Formula and supporting the annual ORSA process through SCR and balance sheet projections for the base case and a range of stress scenarios. The remaining 30–40% will support the Lloyd’s syndicate capital team, helping to run the capital model and associated processes, improving controls and documentation, and delivering insightful analysis to stakeholders. The role offers broad exposure across solvency and internal model frameworks, interaction with finance, risk and underwriting, and opportunities to drive process improvements and automation.
Key Accountabilities
- Produce EIID quarterly SCR calculations under the Solvency II Standard Formula, including analysis, validation and clear documentation of movements.
- Deliver SCR and balance sheet projections for the annual ORSA process, covering base plan and multiple stress and reverse stress scenarios, and support the write‑up of results.
- Support delivery of capital reporting to key stakeholders, including Group, senior management and regulators, ensuring accuracy, consistency and appropriate governance.
- Work with Finance, Risk and wider Actuarial teams to reconcile inputs, explain results and movements, and strengthen controls and documentation across the Solvency II capital process.
- Support the Lloyd’s syndicate capital team in the running of the ReMetrica internal capital model, including routine production tasks, checks, and investigation of model movements.
- Help maintain and develop the capital model and supporting tooling, including implementing enhancements, improving efficiency/automation and maintaining robust model documentation.
- Develop tools and MI to support capital insights and decision‑making, leveraging data and automation to improve timeliness, transparency and repeatability of deliverables.
- Ensure appropriate governance and compliance for all deliverables, including model change controls, peer review, audit trails, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Professional Experience
- Qualified actuary (IFoA or equivalent) with relevant post‑qualification experience in capital and/or solvency.
- Experience in capital modelling and/or Solvency II capital (Standard Formula and/or internal model) within insurance or reinsurance.
- Degree (or higher) in a numerate discipline such as Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or similar.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to interpret and explain SCR results, drivers and movements to a range of stakeholders.
- Experience with capital model processes and controls (e.g., ReMetrica and/or similar platforms), including data handling, validation, documentation, version control and change governance.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver to tight quarterly and annual timetables with attention to detail.
- Clear communicator, able to produce high‑quality written outputs (e.g., ORSA and capital documentation) and present complex concepts in a straightforward way.
- Strong spreadsheet and data skills (e.g., Excel, SQL and/or Python), with an interest in automation, process improvement and continuous learning.
