A key focus of the role is to help embed a strong and proactive risk culture across the business, ensuring that key risks are identified, understood, escalated and managed in line with the firm's risk appetite, strategic objectives and regulatory expectations. The role is expected to act as a second-line partner to the business, identifying areas where the Risk Function can provide meaningful value through thematic reviews, operational challenge, risk event analysis and targeted assurance activity, supporting sustainable and compliant growth within the Lloyd's market. The role will support the CRO in delivering the Risk Management Framework across a broad range of responsibilities. While experience across all areas is not required, candidates should demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop. The role sits within a collaborative Risk Function, drawing on complementary expertise across the team to provide depth of capability and avoid siloed approaches.

  • Contribute to the evolution of a forward-looking, insight-led Risk Function, embedding Lloyd's Principles into business practices, decision-making and performance oversight, with a focus on value-add.

ORSA, Risk Profile and Strategic Risk Assessment

  • Lead the annual Lloyd's syndicate ORSA process end-to-end, coordinating cross-functional input (actuarial, capital, underwriting, finance, exposure management and operations).
  • Ensure the ORSA provides a clear, coherent and forward-looking view of the firm's risk profile and solvency position.
  • Support embedding of ORSA as a meaningful business and decision-making tool.
  • Lead the development and review of forward looking assessment and stress and scenario testing to ensure relevance to evolving risk profile and strategy.

Internal Model Governance and Validation

  • Support the annual and ad-hoc the Lloyd's Internal Model validation process from a second-line perspective.
  • Own the validation plan, including scoping, stakeholder coordination, delivery tracking, governance reporting and action closure.
  • Provide effective oversight and challenge across modelling, assumptions, limitations and outputs.
  • Support the CRO in maintaining robust Internal Model governance, including oversight of reporting to relevant committees, the Board, and the Lloyd's Capital Requirement (LCR) process.
  • Support the preparation of the validation report together with CRO and external validation.

Risk and Control Self-Assessment

  • Lead the enhancement and embedding of the RCSA framework across the business.
  • Drive consistency, quality and usability of RCSA outputs for risk oversight and decision-making.

Risk Events, Challenge and Root Cause Analysis

  • Oversee and enhance the risk event framework to ensure timely identification, escalation, assessment and reporting.
  • Analyse risk events, near misses and control weaknesses to identify underlying themes and systemic risks.
  • Ensure material risk events are escalated appropriately to senior management, committees and the Board.

Deep Dives, Thematic Reviews and Second-Line Assurance

  • Identify and lead targeted deep dive reviews across operational, underwriting, regulatory and emerging risks.
  • Use MI (risk events, RCSA, KRIs, audit findings, regulatory developments) to prioritise areas of focus.
