About the Role: The Cat and Exposure Management team sit within the Everest International CUO Office and report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, with an additional secondary reporting line to the Group Head of Cat and Exposure Management. This dual reporting line allows the International Cat team to be integrated with underwriters whilst ensuring we share technical capabilities with our colleagues in North America. The key priorities of the team are to:
- Manage and monitor accumulations across all classes of business to ensure that we maintain control of catastrophe risk in line with the agreed cat risk appetites set by the business.
- Provide cat analytics to inform cat pricing and business planning (both nat cat and non nat cat).
- Report on exposures post cat event.
- Satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Support the Group validation of the cat view of risk.
The team is split between Exposure Analytics and Reporting, Property Cat Modelling and Speciality Cat Modelling. The Senior Energy & Construction Cat Analyst will be a business partner to the Energy & Construction Underwriters by providing them with pre & post bind catastrophe risk analytics. This will include detailed pre-bind pricing analytics, managing the data cleansing outsourcing relationship, helping enhance existing workflows and views of risk, and being involved with ad hoc projects including model validation. The Energy & Construction book covers oil and gas, power, renewables, and construction. There is significant growth planned for Everest International, both organic growth and across new office/regions. This role will be integral to the development and embedding of catastrophe modelling capabilities throughout Everest Insurance International.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Continually drive forward the pre-bind pricing capabilities for Energy & Construction internationally.
- Working with UWs to enhance their understanding of cat.
- Manage the outsourcing team; ensuring data standards are met and risks processed timely and accurately, using AIR vendor models and other external data sources.
- Enhance workflows for Energy & Construction and provide innovative solutions to enhance Everest's view of risk.
- Complete the monthly roll-up process for the Energy & Construction classes, including running the probabilistic analysis in AIR Touchstone and updating reinsurance assumptions.
- Hold monthly roll up meetings with the Underwriters, deep diving in their portfolio and communicating position against cat appetites.
- Develop tools to help automate current Cat modelling processes.
- Support catastrophe event response reporting.
- Communication of cat model output to key stakeholders including Underwriters, Actuarial and Senior Management.
- Collaborate, present, and share knowledge with the wider Exposure Management team and Group Exposure Management function.
- Mentor/train junior Cat Analysts in team.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a catastrophe modelling / exposure management team.
- Experience of working with natural catastrophe models; AIR preferred.
- Knowledge of Lloyds Exposure Management requirements (desirable).
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical skill with attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience presenting to Underwriters.
- Strong technical skillset (e.g. Excel / SQL / GIS / PowerBI / Python).
- Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs.
- Ambitious and inquisitive, keen to work closely with the wider Cat team, to drive change in the function.
- Ability to think differently to find innovative solutions to problems.
