About Everest: Everest is a global leader in risk management, rooted in a rich, 50+ year heritage of enabling businesses to survive and thrive, and economies to function and flourish. We are underwriters of risk, growth, progress and opportunity. We are a global team focused on disciplined capital allocation and long-term value creation for all stakeholders, who care deeply about our impact on communities and the wider world.

About the Opportunity: Everest Insurance, a member of Everest Group, is looking for an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster to join our growing First Party Claims team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and take day-to-day responsibility for London Facultative, one of the fastest-growing lines within Everest’s Global Wholesale & Specialty business. The role will manage a diverse portfolio of Property, Energy and Construction losses around the world, ranging from attritional matters through to complex, high-value claims. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will investigate, evaluate and resolve claims while managing external experts, adjusters, lawyers and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). This is also a highly collaborative and commercially focused claims role. You will work closely with underwriters, actuaries and other internal stakeholders, providing claims insight and expertise to help inform underwriting decisions, portfolio management and broader business strategy. Externally, you will engage with brokers, insureds, reinsurers and service providers and participate in customer stewardship meetings and industry activity.

The First Party Claims team supports four core underwriting areas: Property, Energy, London Facultative and Accident & Health. As these portfolios continue to grow, this is an opportunity to become an important part of that journey and help shape how we manage claims and support our underwriting partners and clients.

What you'll be doing:

  • Claims management - Take ownership of a varied portfolio of first-party claims, with a particular focus on Property, Energy and Construction losses. Investigate and evaluate property damage exposures and estimates, including physical damage, business interruption, subrogation, recovery opportunities and associated costs. Develop and execute appropriate claim strategies through to negotiation and settlement.
  • Coverage analysis - Review and analyse complex coverage issues, applying sound technical judgement and preparing clear and appropriate coverage correspondence.
  • Reserving and reporting - Establish and maintain timely and accurate case reserves in line with Everest's policies and prepare clear claim summaries and Large Claims Reports for matters involving significant exposures or litigation.
  • External expert and TPA management - Manage and direct external adjusters, lawyers and other experts, including oversight of budgets and expenses. Provide effective oversight of TPAs and participate in the onboarding of new TPA relationships.
  • Business partnership - Build strong relationships with underwriting colleagues, providing claims insight to support policy drafting and interpretation and sharing trends, data and lessons from claims to help inform risk assessment and portfolio decisions.
  • Client and market engagement - Build positive relationships with insureds, brokers and reinsurers and participate in client meetings, stewardship activity and industry events, supporting strong relationships and business retention.
  • Collaboration and technical expertise - Work closely with colleagues across the First Party Claims team, sharing technical knowledge, supporting peer reviews and contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Claims strategy and governance - Participate in claim reviews, stewardship meetings and audits, helping ensure high standards of technical claims management and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for: We are looking for an experienced claims professional who brings strong technical expertise alongside the commercial judgement and communication skills required to operate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders. You will ideally bring:

  • Strong first-party claims experience gained within a global insurance or reinsurance business, particularly across Property and/or Energy, or significant relevant legal experience.
  • Experience handling complex and high-value losses across different jurisdictions and markets.
  • Strong knowledge of property damage, business interruption and associated first-party exposures.
  • The ability to analyse complex coverage issues and apply sound judgement across a broad range of loss scenarios.
  • Good knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance market and the legal and regulatory environment surrounding complex claims, including litigation and arbitration.
  • Familiarity with London Market claims systems such as ECF and IMR, with experience of platforms such as ClaimCenter or TRAX advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and investigative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate complex matters clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, particularly when managing complex or disputed claims.
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to use claims information, data and trends to support better business decisions.
  • A collaborative approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to the continued development of the team.
  • ACII, a legal qualification or a relevant degree is preferred.

Why this opportunity? This isn't simply an opportunity to manage an existing claims portfolio. London Facultative is a growing area for Everest, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the underwriting business as that portfolio develops. For someone who enjoys the technical challenge of complex Property, Energy and Construction claims but also wants broader exposure to underwriters, clients, brokers, TPAs and senior stakeholders, this role offers an opportunity to combine deep claims expertise with genuine business partnership. You'll join a collaborative First Party Claims team where technical knowledge is valued, ideas are shared and claims professionals play an important role in supporting Everest's wider underwriting strategy.

What if I don’t meet every requirement? At Everest we are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace. So, if you are excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every element in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Please let us know if you need any accommodations throughout the application or interview process.
