As part of the Technical Underwriting & Delegated Authority Oversight team (1st Line), you will help ensure that our products meet regulatory expectations and deliver clear value to customers. You will work closely with underwriters and stakeholders across Risk and Compliance, applying your knowledge of FCA, Lloyd's and wider regulatory requirements to support robust and effective product oversight. This is an opportunity to shape and enhance our product governance framework while contributing to impactful improvements across the business.
About the Role: To work as a key member of the Technical Underwriting and DA Oversight team to:
- Ensure that the underwriting community across both EMAL & EIID are adhering to the Product Governance Framework in place.
- Undertake both annual and periodic reviews of new and existing products and services to ensure they remain suitable and compliant with both internal and regulatory requirements including maintaining the Product Register.
- Oversee the process for approval of new products and material changes to existing products, ensuring that underwriters have undertaken appropriate assessments in line with the framework and that they are appropriately presented to the Product Oversight Group (POG).
- Oversee and periodically review Target Market Assessments and Fair Value Assessments ensuring these are accurately maintained.
- Maintain oversight and challenge of our DA Operations MI team to ensure that our third-party distribution partners are reporting accurate and appropriate data in respect of Product and Vulnerable Customers.
- Oversight and challenge of all Product Governance reporting required for Conduct MI and the Product Universe across EMAL and EIID produced and owned by the DA Operations MI team.
- Oversee due diligence processes across the value chain, partnering with the DA Due Diligence team at both new business, renewal stage and on an ongoing basis.
- Undertake regular horizon scanning of regulatory changes in respect of Product Governance and first line compliance changes that impact all aspect of underwriting in respect of Delegated Authority and Open Market placements as appropriate.
- Act as the 1st line compliance and regulatory contact.
- Assist in the preparation of the POG pack (and other committees as appropriate) and be a key member of the committee representing and providing challenge on underwriting product governance matters.
- Deputise for the Head of Technical Underwriting & DA Oversight as required.
Key Accountabilities: To work in close cooperation with the Head of Product Governance & Technical Delegated Authority Oversight to:
- Ensure that all products written across both the Syndicate and Company platform comply with all regulatory requirements in the territories in which we operate.
- Maintain the Product Register for the business, ensuring that it is up to date and that any material changes are monitored and reportable.
- Partner with the Underwriting community as Product Owners ensuring that their products are regularly monitored, and they understand the process to follow to ensure any changes are actioned appropriately and approved by the required individuals and committees.
- In addition to the Product Governance remit, undertake regular horizon scanning of regulatory developments in all the territories in which we operate with particular focus on Lloyd's, the FCA and CBI ensuring the key stakeholders in the business are notified of any changes.
- Partner with and ensure robust oversight of the DA Operations MI team who are the custodians of both the DA and Open Market Product Universe.
- Prepare as necessary papers/slides in respect of Product Governance and/or regulatory landscape changes for the Product Oversight Group, Contract Oversight Group, Underwriting Committee or other group as appropriate.
- Any other ad hoc duties or tasks as defined and agreed with Head of Technical Underwriting & DA Oversight.
All functions to be performed in accordance with current Everest policies and specific procedure manuals, as amended from time to time.
Person Specification:
- Product Governance experience within a Lloyd's Managing Agent, Insurance Company, Broker or Coverholder/MGA is preferable.
- Experience in reviewing and deploying regulatory advice to 1st line teams is preferred.
- Outstanding communication, both written and verbal.
- Ability to think proactively and offer solutions to problems.
- Proven ability to prioritise and deliver in a timely manner.
- Solid experience utilizing technology platforms including Workflows, and MS Office suite (particularly MS Excel) amongst others.
