Key Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure all engineering activities are cost-effective and avoid repeat failures on equipment.
- Participate in improvement initiatives and support operational performance aligned with business objectives.
- Utilize problem-solving techniques to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and faults.
- Asset Management
- Maintain and monitor assets using maintenance management systems to deliver planned and unplanned maintenance efficiently.
- Ensure resources are deployed effectively to meet internal and external customer needs.
- Work closely with team members and contractors to ensure smooth shift operations.
- Actively participate in meetings to report on performance and address root causes of issues.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to health and safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site.
- Report accidents, near misses, and equipment faults promptly.
- Ensure protective equipment is used correctly and drive initiatives to improve safety performance.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational excellence.
- Look for opportunities to reduce energy consumption and minimize the site’s environmental impact.
- Food Safety and Quality
- Ensure GMP standards are met, maintaining food safety, legality, and product integrity.
- Support quality assurance processes and adhere to food hygiene regulations.
- Other Duties
- Uphold animal welfare standards at all times.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required by the role.
Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Strong fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
- Basic understanding of PLC I/O systems.
- Experience with drives, motors, transmissions, and closed-loop feedback systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in the food industry, particularly in processing or manufacturing.
- Certification in health and safety practices.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and programming VSDs.
- Fabrication skills and experience operating MEWPs.
