This position will ideally be based in either Paris, Madrid or London, but we will consider other locations where we have a presence. We operate a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
Role Purpose: In this role you will report into the International Head of Energy & Construction and will be responsible for driving our expanding Construction proposition and strategy across Everest International Insurance (EII), whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction and profitable growth of the EII Construction Portfolio, developing underwriting guidelines and collaborating with colleagues to formulate strategies and identify growth opportunities tailored to regional markets.
- Assist in driving collaboration and integration of Everest Insurance International and North American Construction portfolios.
- Collaborate with the Head of Risk Engineering to develop risk assessment criteria.
- Work with the Actuarial team to develop and refine pricing tools for the various construction segments and monitor portfolio performance against pricing expectations.
- Cultivate and sustain effective relationships with key brokers and clients.
- Collaborate and coordinate activities with other departments (e.g. Claims, Loss Control, and Accounting).
- Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement and efficiency, recommending and implementing new procedures and programs as needed.
- Working alongside the Head of Energy and Construction and Ceded Re with respect to the E&C Reinsurance Treaty structure and execution.
Skills & Abilities: To be effective in the role you must have:
- Held Senior Global Underwriting roles, with experience in Industrial and Civil Infrastructure Construction Projects across International marketplaces.
- A technical background in both EAR and CAR.
- An understanding of related Construction classes such as Project Cargo, Liability, Project PI and Surety.
- Ability to represent Everest's cross class capabilities when considering strategic construction opportunities.
- A proven ability to thrive within complex, matrixed organisations, effectively navigating and collaborating across multiple functions and levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in establishing and nurturing effective relationships with brokers, clients and stakeholders.
- Successfully navigated teams through change, fostering resilience and adaptability, while cultivating a high performing collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated an ability to take calculated risks, consistently achieving favourable outcomes.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strategic acumen in identifying opportunities and threats through thorough analysis of current and future trends, with an ability to comprehend the big picture.
