About the Role: Everest (re Syndicate 2786) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will sit in the Syndicate Accounting team and will assist the team in their responsibility for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of syndicate group and regulatory reporting requirements, including those of the related legal entities (Service Company, Corporate Member and Managing Agent). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Lloyd's syndicate operations, regulatory reporting, financial accounting and control principles.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Support the Syndicate Financial Controller by taking leadership of the monthly/quarterly general ledger close of the Syndicate and related legal entities for both Group reporting (US GAAP) and local reporting (UK GAAP).
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the Syndicate Accountant & Assistant Accountant and review/approve their work as required.
  • Monitor ledger integrity and investigate unusual balances or transactions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting and reporting processes. Implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain, and strengthen where required, controls over the general ledger account balances, including accurate recording of balances between years of account and classes of business, timely reconciliation of bank accounts, technical accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Liaise with other departments (e.g. IT, Underwriting, Claims, Credit Control and Reinsurance) as required to support change activities and financial processes.
  • Support the analysis, planning and reporting activities of other Finance departments (FP&A, tax, actuarial and reporting), Treasury and Group head office.
  • Coordinate and lead the external audit of the syndicate and related entities including liaison with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation, analysis and explanations as required.
  • Provide support to other members of the finance and syndicate reporting teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial and regulatory landscape of a general insurance company is required; syndicate accounting knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication skills, ability to interact at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP is preferable.
