This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Team Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice President Associate General Counsel in the UK, you will provide legal and management support for our international insurance and reinsurance business segments outside of the US and Bermuda including underwriting claims and operations on a worldwide basis.

Role Purpose

Our legal team is dedicated to providing the best possible legal support and our team members must demonstrate flexibility while working as both technical subject matter specialists and general business advisers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Everest's Associate General Counsel in the UK in advising on legal regulatory and business issues with respect to Everest's international insurance and reinsurance business outside of the US and Bermuda.
  • Provide legal support to various operational areas that support the international insurance and reinsurance business (i.e. Claim Underwriting IT Finance Contract Wording).
  • Work with underwriting teams and product development to support various insurance and reinsurance-driven transactions and claims.
  • Assist in the review and preparation of various legal agreements including non-disclosure and hold harmless agreements, software licenses, outsourcing and services contracts, leases and insurance and reinsurance contracts.
  • Engage in issue spotting, risk assessment and problem solving on a daily basis.

Skills Abilities & Competencies

  • Qualified Barrister or Solicitor with experience in a law firm or in-house role relevant to the insurance or reinsurance industry or financial services sector.
  • Proven negotiating skills and analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • An ability to self-manage as well as work in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects or priorities in a dynamic developing environment.
  • Common sense, good judgment and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues.
  • Must be able to approach complex legal issues with a sense of entrepreneurialism.
