About the Role: We’re looking for a Senior Power Underwriter to join our Energy & Construction team in London. This is a newly created position offering the chance to shape the future of our Conventional Power portfolio and influence strategic decisions across a diverse range of technologies and markets.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the growth of our UK Conventional Power portfolio with wide multi-national remit
  • Collaborate with global experts to deliver innovative solutions
  • Play a key role in shaping underwriting strategy and building on an existing portfolio

You’ll report to the UK Head of Energy & Power and work closely with the Global Head of Energy & Construction. This position is based in our London office with a hybrid schedule giving you flexibility to work remotely two days per week.

Role Purpose:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the UK Head of Energy & Power in delivering the strategic direction and performance of a growing portfolio.
  • Develop the account in line with Everest Insurance appetite, controls, underwriting strategy and guidelines, with a clear focus on sustainable underwriting results and delivery of internal plans.
  • Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with key brokers, clients and stakeholders; represent Everest at internal and external meetings as required.
  • Underwrite and price Conventional Power risks, including all forms of distribution, assessing risk quality and determining acceptability in line with delegated authority.
  • Prepare quotations and formal proposals for new and renewal business; bind risks within your authority and respond to broker and stakeholder enquiries in a timely, professional manner.
  • Participate in underwriting peer review, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete and aligned to Everest Insurance standards.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of divisional pricing, accumulation and related systems.
  • Play an active role in the marketing plan and relationship strategy with brokers and customers, aligned to the business plan objectives.
  • Collaborate across underwriting teams and with Claims, Risk Engineering/Loss Control, Finance and other functions to deliver joined‑up outcomes.
  • Share market intelligence on the Conventional Power sector - competitor activity, technology developments and emerging opportunities.
  • Operate with internal controls and meet regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

  • Conventional Power underwriting or broking experience in the international marketplace.
  • Ability to stay organised and prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Sound risk evaluation - assessing opportunities and making informed decisions that support positive outcomes.
  • Strong judgment and decision‑making skills, applying balanced analysis to complex information.
  • Proactive and comfortable working autonomously while collaborating effectively across teams.
