About the Role
We’re excited to share an opportunity to join our International Reinsurance Reserving team as an Actuarial Analyst. This role is central to strengthening the team’s analytical foundations and evolving our reserving capabilities across markets. You’ll bring actuarial and analytical skills, paired with clear communication and a collaborative mindset. Expect to work closely with colleagues across underwriting, finance, compliance, claims, pricing, and senior leadership — it’s a truly cross‑functional role with high visibility. The position is based in our London office, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
- You will support the UK P&C reinsurance reserving team by preparing detailed reserve adequacy studies.
- Assist with quarterly closing tasks, including validating plan ELRs, performing actuarial versus expected analysis, and conducting roll‑forward analysis.
- Explore and develop new reserving approaches and methodologies.
- Participate in group‑wide projects aimed at improving reserving processes.
- You’ll collaborate closely with Pricing Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Financial Services.
- You will work alongside the Head of International Reinsurance Reserving to ensure consistency and alignment with global reserving best practices.
- Ensure timely delivery and clear communication of results.
Qualifications
- You’re on your way to qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA), or you may hold a similar professional qualification.
- You’ve studied Maths, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related discipline — likely at degree level or beyond.
- You have some experience in P&C actuarial work and are keen to build on it.
- You’re familiar with general insurance reserving and possibly reinsurance, or you’re eager to deepen your expertise in these areas.
- You’re confident using Excel, and may have worked with tools like Excel VBA, SQL, Python, or similar — or you’re open to learning them.
- You’ve used ResQ before, or you’re enthusiastic about picking it up.
- You tend to be well‑organised and detail‑oriented in your approach.
- You’re able to communicate clearly — whether that’s in writing, in meetings, or when collaborating with others.
- You’re comfortable working independently, but also enjoy being part of a team.
- You bring energy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, grow, and connect with others.
