Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Opportunity

EVEREC is working with a growing UK contractor who, due to an increase in workload and a strong pipeline of projects, is looking to appoint their first dedicated Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager.

This is a newly created position and a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of the commercial side of the business, work closely with senior leadership and play an important role in shaping the commercial function as the company continues to grow.

We're open to speaking with Senior Quantity Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Managers and Project Commercial Managers from a range of backgrounds, including construction, civils, M&E, utilities and infrastructure.

You don't need previous EV charging or energy infrastructure experience. We're much more interested in someone with strong commercial experience who understands project costs, contracts, subcontractor management and profitability.

With a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, this is an opportunity to join a growing business, take on real responsibility and have an impact from day one.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring costs are controlled, contracts are managed effectively and projects remain commercially on track.

Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, operational teams and senior leadership, you'll oversee commercial activities throughout the full project lifecycle, from tender and pre-construction through to completion and final account.

As the first dedicated commercial appointment of this kind, you'll also have the opportunity to help establish and improve commercial processes, reporting and systems as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of projects from tender through to completion and final account.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow and financial reporting.
  • Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and monitor project profitability.
  • Manage valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, appointments, payments and commercial management.
  • Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
  • Review and administer construction contracts, including NEC and JCT where applicable.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to monitor project costs, progress and margins.
  • Support tendering, estimating and pre-construction activities.
  • Manage commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate project reporting and commercial documentation.
  • Help develop and improve commercial processes and procedures as the business grows.

About You

We're looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in construction or project delivery.

You may currently be working as a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Project Commercial Manager or in a similar role where you've held responsibility for the commercial management of projects.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Strong experience in commercial management within construction, engineering or a related project-based environment.
  • Experience managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and profitability.
  • Experience with subcontractor management, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • A good understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk.
  • Experience working across the full project lifecycle, from tender through to final account.
  • The confidence to take ownership of commercial responsibilities and work independently.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Experience with NEC or JCT contracts would be advantageous, although candidates with experience of other contractual frameworks will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in electrical infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy or EV charging would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • A Quantity Surveying degree or professional qualification is not required. We're more interested in your practical experience, commercial judgement and ability to manage projects effectively.

Salary & Benefits

  • £6,000 annual car allowance.
  • Company pension.
  • Additional company benefits.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of the commercial function.
  • Varied portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership.
  • Long-term career development within a growing business.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This isn't a position where you'll be joining an established team of Quantity Surveyors.

You'll be the first dedicated commercial professional of this kind within the business, giving you the opportunity to take ownership, introduce your own ideas and help develop the commercial function as the company grows.

Whether you're an established Senior Quantity Surveyor, an experienced QS ready for the next step or a Commercial Manager looking for a role with greater autonomy, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
