This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone who enjoys building high‑quality equipment, solving complex manufacturing challenges and working closely with engineers to bring designs from concept through to finished assemblies.
The successful candidate will play an important role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting product development and ensuring equipment is manufactured to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities

- Carry out high‑quality welding on stainless steel components, particularly pressure‑rated equipment.
- Support the fabrication of non‑pressure equipment, including structural frames, sheet metal assemblies and industrial equipment.
- Interpret and work independently from engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications and initial design concepts.
- Take ownership of fabrication projects from initial requirements through to completed assemblies.
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to improve manufacturability, assembly methods and overall product quality.
- Support pressure testing, inspection, quality assurance and certification activities.
- Ensure welding activities meet relevant industry standards, procedures and safety requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, manufacturing processes and production turnaround times.

- Liaise with external suppliers, contractors and specialist service providers when necessary.
- Minimum 2 years' experience welding and fabricating pressure vessels, pipework or similar pressure‑rated equipment.
- Strong TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel.
- Experience working with stainless steel grades such as 316L.
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications, ideally to ISO 9606-1 or equivalent.
- Experience welding pipework and vessels across a range of diameters and wall thicknesses.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications and fabrication documentation.
- Good understanding of welding procedures, material preparation, dimensional tolerances and quality control.
- Familiarity with pressure testing, inspection processes and relevant manufacturing standards.
- Strong awareness of workshop health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and take responsibility for the quality of completed work.
- Experience manufacturing equipment for industrial, energy, chemical processing or other highly regulated engineering environments.
- Knowledge of pressure equipment certification and associated quality documentation.
- Experience with fabrication of heat exchangers, reactors or specialist process equipment.
- Experience working in a prototype, R&D or low‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to contribute to design‑for‑manufacture discussions and recommend practical engineering improvements.
- Experience supporting or mentoring other welders and fabrication technicians.
- Experience coordinating external fabrication or specialist manufacturing contractors.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and developing new technical skills.
