Role: Test Technician
Location: Norfolk (On Site 5 Days Per Week)
Contract: Outside IR35
Duration: 8 Weeks (Will extend or option to go permanent)

We are supporting an innovative engineering business developing next-generation electric drive systems for high-performance and clean technology applications. They are seeking a practical and detail-oriented Test Technician to support product development and validation activities within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge electrification technology, supporting the testing and validation of advanced electric drive systems through dynamometer-based testing and data acquisition activities.
The Role
You will be responsible for setting up and operating dynamometer test rigs, supporting Design Verification Plans (DVP), collecting and validating test data, and assisting engineering teams with development and validation activities. The successful candidate will be hands-on, safety-conscious, and comfortable working within a dynamic prototype and testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up dynamometers, test rigs, and supporting equipment for electric drive system testing
- Install and configure units under test including motors, inverters, gearboxes, and associated components
- Configure instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
- Prepare and execute tests in line with test procedures and DVP requirements
- Conduct performance, durability, efficiency, and validation testing
- Monitor tests and identify abnormal behaviour or faults
- Record, log, and validate test data accurately
- Support engineers with analysis of test results and reporting
- Carry out calibration and routine maintenance of test equipment
- Troubleshoot test rigs and equipment where required
- Assist with development of new test methods, fixtures, and rig improvements
- Maintain safe working practices within high-voltage test environments
Experience & Skills Required
- Experience operating test rigs or dynamometer systems within an engineering or development environment
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability across electrical and electromechanical systems
- Experience using test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analysers, and DAQ systems
- Ability to capture and interpret test data accurately
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical assembly/installation experience
- Understanding of high-voltage safety procedures and electrical safety standards
- Ability to follow structured test procedures and maintain accurate documentation
- Experience supporting prototype, validation, or R&D activities is highly desirable
