About the Opportunity
We are supporting a rapidly growing engineering and infrastructure business delivering renewable energy and EV charging projects across the UK. The business operates nationally across electrical infrastructure, renewables and energy solutions, with a dedicated clean energy division focused on the deployment, maintenance and operation of commercial EV charging infrastructure.
Due to continued growth and increasing project demand, they are looking to hire an experienced EV Charging Electrical Engineer to support installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault response activities across a growing portfolio of commercial EV charging projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing renewables division delivering large-scale electrification infrastructure for commercial, industrial and public sector clients.
The Role
The role is heavily focused on the delivery of commercial and industrial EV charging infrastructure projects, primarily across the Southeast, London and Kent regions with nationwide travel as required. You will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault-finding of AC and DC charging systems, supporting both new infrastructure deployments and operational charging assets. This role would suit someone with strong commercial electrical installation experience and hands-on EV charging infrastructure knowledge, particularly across rapid DC charging systems. Domestic EV charging experience alone will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning
- Install and commission commercial EV charging infrastructure across sites in the Southeast and beyond
- Install cabling, containment, distribution equipment and associated electrical infrastructure
- Carry out testing, inspection and commissioning activities in line with BS7671 requirements
- Support charger configuration, commissioning and operational handover activities
- Ensure installations are delivered safely, efficiently and to required quality standards
- Maintenance & Fault Finding
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across EV charging assets
- Diagnose electrical and charger-related faults across operational infrastructure
- Conduct reactive repair works and emergency fault response activities
- Replace defective charging equipment and associated components
- Complete service documentation, test certification and maintenance reporting
- Operational Support
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers and operational delivery teams
- Support site surveys, technical assessments and installation planning
- Maintain strong client communication and professional site representation
- Ensure compliance with RAMS, permits and company health and safety procedures
Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as an EV Charging Electrical Engineer within commercial or industrial environments
- Strong installation background across EV charging infrastructure projects
- Experience with maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning of EV charging systems
- Strong understanding of BS7671 and electrical compliance procedures
- Experience working with commercial electrical installations and testing processes
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications
- Full UK Driving Licence
Qualifications Required
- ECS Gold Card / CSCS Card
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
- EV Charging Qualification (large-scale commercial preferred)
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification
- SSSTS
Highly Desirable Experience
- Experience with Alpitronic, Kempower, Autel or ChargePoint systems
- Experience with rapid DC charging infrastructure
- IPAF or PASMA certifications
- Experience working across nationwide operational projects
