We are supporting an advanced engineering business developing next-generation electric drive systems for high-performance and clean technology applications. They are looking for a hands-on Hardware Technician to support prototype builds, hardware modifications, and engineering test activities within a fast-paced R&D environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical engineering work, prototype development, and working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams on cutting-edge electrification technology.

The Role

You will take ownership of prototype hardware assembly, PCB rework, wiring harness manufacture, lab maintenance, and test support activities. Working alongside hardware and systems engineers, you will help ensure development programmes progress efficiently, safely, and to a high technical standard. The role will suit someone with strong practical electronics and hardware experience who is comfortable working in a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, and modify electric drive system prototypes including motors, inverters, and associated hardware
  • Support engineering changes and prototype iterations
  • Build prototype wiring harnesses and test boxes
  • Carry out PCB assembly, soldering, rework, and modifications
  • Troubleshoot hardware and PCB-related issues alongside engineering teams
  • Maintain the engineering lab, tools, equipment, and test rigs
  • Support calibration scheduling and inventory management
  • Assist with functional, validation, and performance testing
  • Maintain accurate build and configuration records
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with engineering and quality standards
  • Support rapid development cycles and continuous improvement activities

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience assembling and configuring electronic or electromechanical hardware
  • Strong hands-on fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
  • PCB soldering and rework experience
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings, schematics, and BOMs
  • Familiarity with lab and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Experience supporting prototype or development environments
  • Understanding of safe working practices including ESD procedures
  • Comfortable working with high-voltage systems and test environments
