Overview
We are supporting a fast-growing engineering and technology business operating at the forefront of sustainable mobility and advanced aerospace innovation. The company is moving through a key scale-up phase, transitioning from early-stage development into a more structured, operationally mature organisation.
As part of this growth, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function, introduce robust controls, and support the leadership team with high-quality financial insight and governance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on, scaling environments and enjoys building finance processes that support rapid yet controlled growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the day-to-day finance function
- Production of monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets
- Cashflow management and financial planning to support growth
- Oversight of statutory accounts, audit processes, and compliance
- Development and implementation of financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks
- Business partnering with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Managing external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and advisors
- Supporting funding activity, grants, or investor reporting where required
- Line management and development of junior finance resource (where applicable)
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
- Background in a scaling business (typically 30–150 employees)
- Experience within automotive, EV, aerospace, eVTOL, drones, advanced engineering, or similar sectors
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial awareness
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, evolving environment
- Experience building or improving finance processes and controls
- Ability to work on-site in Milton Keynes at least 3 days per week
- Exposure to venture-backed or high-growth technology businesses
- Experience supporting R&D-led organisations
- Understanding of project-based or engineering-led cost structures
- Prior involvement in funding rounds or grant reporting
