This role sits at the centre of the customer experience, leading and supporting a technical support team that handles the day-to-day queries, faults and escalations coming in from EV charger customers. You will be the senior point of contact for complex technical issues, working through charger platform data and diagnostic tools to resolve problems quickly, while also mentoring and developing the wider support team to raise the standard of service across the board.
This is a technical customer support leadership role, not a hardware engineering one. You will need a genuine understanding of how EV chargers and their back-office platforms work, strong troubleshooting instincts, and the ability to translate technical detail into clear, reassuring communication for customers and colleagues alike.
About the Company: Our client designs and supplies smart EV charging solutions for both domestic and commercial customers, with a strong focus on the electrical wholesale market. Their product range includes home EV chargers, commercial charging units, and an accompanying smart charging app and platform, alongside a growing demand flexibility offering that allows customers to optimise how and when their chargers draw power. There are already tens of thousands of their chargers installed and in active use across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a technical support team, managing day-to-day operations to ensure SLA and KPI targets are consistently met.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical queries, diagnosing EV charging system issues using platform and back-office tools.
- Implement and refine support processes to improve efficiency, reduce handling times and increase first-contact resolution.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to feed customer-reported issues back into product improvement.
- Optimise CRM and ticketing system workflows to support smooth, consistent service delivery.
- Support the wider team's development through coaching, training and structured feedback.
About You:
- Proven experience in a senior technical support or customer service leadership role, ideally within EV charging or a related technical product environment.
- Strong technical troubleshooting ability, comfortable working with charge point management platforms and diagnostic tools.
- Experience leading or mentoring a support team, with a track record of improving service metrics (SLAs, KPIs, CSAT).
- A relevant technical or engineering background (a degree in a technical discipline is a strong plus, though not essential).
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical customers and colleagues.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, Product and Customer Service teams.
Details:
- Office based in Manchester.
- Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, with an additional day per year of service (up to 25 days).
- Company pension.
- Relocation support available (up to £3,000) for the right candidate.
