A fast-growing international company in the renewable energy sector is looking to appoint a Managing Director to lead its UK business unit. This is a senior leadership role with full commercial and operational responsibility, reporting into group-level leadership.
The company designs and delivers innovative products across the sustainable energy space and is entering a new phase of growth, with established operations in multiple markets. The UK business is a core part of its global footprint.
Role Overview
This position will suit someone with a strong track record of leading high-performing commercial teams, managing P&L, and driving business transformation in a product-led, multi-channel environment. You’ll work closely with the global team to align strategy while having day-to-day autonomy over the UK operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Commercial Leadership
- Define and deliver the UK business strategy in line with group objectives.
- Identify and develop new market opportunities, ensuring long-term growth.
- Drive multi-channel revenue performance, including wholesale, retail, and direct-to-consumer.
- Operational Oversight
- Ensure the operational effectiveness of the UK entity, with a focus on supply chain, forecasting, and fulfilment.
- Implement continuous improvement and cost-efficiency measures across the business.
- Financial Management
- Full P&L responsibility for the UK business.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting to group.
- Team Leadership
- Lead a senior management team across sales, operations, and marketing.
- Build a culture focused on performance, accountability, and innovation.
- Oversee succession planning and leadership development within the UK team.
- External Engagement
- Represent the business in industry discussions, customer engagements, and stakeholder meetings as needed.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and market developments in the UK energy sector.
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership in senior roles within cleantech, energy, or manufacturing.
- Commercially driven, with success expanding revenue in varied markets.
- In-depth knowledge of UK energy regulation and consumer dynamics.
- Hands-on experience with whole-home energy solutions (EV charging, batteries, smart heating, etc.).
- Strong track record selling into major utilities, distributors, or automotive-linked channels.
- Skilled at building and leading high-performing senior teams.
- Thrives in fast-paced, scaling environments.
- Product-led mindset with insight into evolving energy consumer behaviours.
