Our client is a renewable energy infrastructure developer delivering large-scale anaerobic digestion, biomethane, carbon capture and renewable energy projects for major industrial energy users. Having closed one of the UK's first greenfield AD projects to be project‑financed through senior and junior debt, the asset is now moving from construction into commercial operations - an exciting stage to join. The wider business is scaling from a single-project developer into a multi‑project infrastructure platform with an ambitious UK pipeline.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious infrastructure finance professional to lead the finance function of one of the UK's largest anaerobic digestion projects as it transitions into operations. This is a hands‑on infrastructure project finance role, not a corporate reporting position, with direct exposure to shareholders, lenders and the Board from day one. Current or prior CFO experience is not a prerequisite - our client is equally interested in senior project finance professionals ready to operate at CFO level. As the wider portfolio grows, there is a clear and genuine pathway to progress into the Group Chief Financial Officer role.
What You'll Do (Initially - Project Level)
- Lead all financial activities for the project company, acting as principal financial adviser to its Board.
- Deliver Board reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Oversee statutory reporting, audit, tax, treasury and compliance, working alongside external accountants and advisers.
- Lead the planned refinancing following commissioning and stabilisation of operations.
- Own and maintain the project's integrated financial model, updating assumptions on construction, operations, financing, taxation and shareholder returns.
- Manage lender relationships, covenant compliance and financial monitoring throughout the financing lifecycle.
- Provide financial input into commercial negotiations and long‑term business planning.
As the Group Grows, the Role Will Expand to Include
- Leading institutional equity fundraising and project finance transactions across the Group.
- Taking ownership of integrated project finance models across multiple project companies.
- Building and leading a high‑performing finance function as the platform scales.
About You
- Finance Director or senior project finance experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities or another capital‑intensive sector.
- Significant project finance experience, including debt raising and refinancing.
- Demonstrable experience with institutional investors, infrastructure funds and commercial lenders.
- Advanced financial modelling capability – able to personally own and update complex integrated project finance models.
- Experience preparing Board, shareholder and lender reporting.
Highly Desirable
- Anaerobic digestion, biomethane or waste‑to‑energy experience.
- Carbon capture or energy transition exposure.
- Broader project finance transaction experience.
Package
Competitive base salary and performance bonus, with a genuine pathway to Group CFO as the platform scales.
