We are supporting a growing and well-established engineering business operating within the distributed energy sector, delivering CHP and gas‑powered generation solutions across the UK and Europe. Due to continued growth and investment in a new South East office, the business is looking to appoint a Proposals Engineer to play a key role in supporting its commercial expansion.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically strong and commercially focused organisation, working closely with the sales team to deliver high-quality, tailored energy solutions. The role offers a clear pathway for progression and is well suited to either an experienced Proposals Engineer or an engineer looking to transition from a hands‑on role into a more office‑based, commercially focused position.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed technical and commercial proposals for CHP units and gas‑powered generator systems
- Support Business Development Managers during the pre‑sales and tender process
- Interpret client requirements and develop tailored technical solutions
- Liaise with internal engineering teams and external suppliers
- Attend client meetings and site visits where required
- Conduct site surveys to support accurate and competitive proposals
- Ensure all proposals are delivered to a high standard and within required timeframes
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in power generation, CHP, or related energy systems, with the ability to bridge the gap between engineering and sales. You may currently be:
- A Proposals Engineer within the CHP / power generation / energy sector
- A Service, Installation, or Commissioning Engineer looking to move into a more office‑based role
Requirements
- Experience with CHP systems, gas engines, or power generation equipment
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge
- Exposure to proposals, tenders, or technical sales support (or a strong desire to move into this area)
- Commercial awareness and ability to understand client requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK driving licence
Location
South East based (Surrey / Hampshire)
Willingness to work from a new office location (to be confirmed)
Flexibility to travel for client meetings and site visits as required
