An established and growing PE-backed renewable energy operator is looking for an Engineering Technical Manager to provide technical leadership, engineering governance, and operational support across its onshore wind turbine portfolio. Based at the company's Perth headquarters, this is a senior role at the heart of a business in an exciting growth phase, moving from sub‑1MW into larger turbine platforms and scaling its UK market share.

Role Summary

You will act as the senior technical authority across all operational sites, supporting the Operations Director and field teams, bridging the gap between the control room and field operations, and ensuring turbines operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring both genuine turbine technical credibility and the ability to manage, develop and support people. You will play a key role in how the business makes better operational decisions day‑to‑day as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across all wind turbine operations and maintenance activities
  • Act as the key technical link between the control room, field technicians and senior leadership
  • Support the Operations Director with operational planning, resource management and technical decision making
  • Lead fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and engineering investigations
  • Monitor turbine performance using SCADA and condition monitoring systems, identifying trends and driving improvements
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve reliability, reduce downtime and maximise availability
  • Ensure compliance with OEM standards, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, safety legislation and ISO frameworks (9001, 14001, 45001)
  • Support major repairs, component replacements, upgrades and engineering projects
  • Mentor and develop the engineering and technician teams
  • Act as technical interface with clients, landowners and subcontractors
  • Deliver technical reporting and performance insights to senior leadership and customers
  • Attend sites when required to support critical works or provide technical oversight

Requirements
