The engineering team is comprised of specialists from aerospace, motorsport, automotive and energy sectors, working collaboratively to develop highly efficient, high-performance systems capable of operating in demanding environments.
As the programme continues to scale, they are seeking experienced engineers with expertise in transmission systems, rotating machinery and gearbox analysis to support critical development activities across design validation, performance optimisation and reliability assessment.
The Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in gearbox and transmission systems to support the analysis, validation and development of high-power mechanical drivetrains. This role is primarily analysis-focused, although candidates with design experience will be highly regarded. You will work on complex power transmission systems, evaluating performance, reliability and durability within highly demanding operating environments. Applications are welcomed from engineers who have worked within motorsport, aerospace, defence, energy, automotive or industrial sectors where high-power transfer and rotating machinery are critical. Candidates from organisations such as Xtrac, Hewland, Ricardo, GKN, Rolls-Royce, Safran, Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE Vernova, Formula 1 teams and similar engineering environments are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed gearbox and transmission system analysis.
- Conduct stress, fatigue, durability and reliability assessments of gears, shafts, bearings and associated components.
- Analyse gearbox performance, efficiency, thermal behaviour and power transfer characteristics.
- Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities.
- Develop analytical models and engineering calculations for rotating machinery and transmission systems.
- Review and validate mechanical designs against operational and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with design, systems and test teams to optimise mechanical performance.
- Analyse test data and correlate results with analytical predictions.
- Produce technical reports, recommendations and engineering documentation.
Required Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working with gearbox, transmission or driveline systems.
- Strong background in analysis-led mechanical engineering.
- Experience working with high-power rotating equipment and power transmission systems.
- Good understanding of gears, bearings, shafts, lubrication systems and transmission architectures.
- Experience conducting stress, fatigue, durability or reliability assessments.
- Ability to interpret test data and support validation activities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
