Senior Consultant – Battery, EV & Gigafactory Recruitment

We are currently seeking a Product Development Engineer – Metals to join our client, a leading manufacturing business investing in innovation and process excellence. This role offers hands-on involvement in production, process improvement, and the delivery of a major rolling mill investment, alongside mentoring and professional development opportunities.

The Product Development Engineer – Metals will:

  • Support daily production activities, troubleshooting machinery, data logging tools, and product quality issues.
  • Analyse and interpret data in Excel to identify anomalies, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives, focusing on efficiency, waste reduction, and process optimisation.
  • Assist with the successful implementation of a newly refurbished £1.5 million rolling mill.
  • Undertake CAD/3D CAD (SolidWorks) training to support technical analysis and cross-section sample review.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, and R&D teams to drive technical improvements and enhance product performance.

The Product Development Engineer – Metals will have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred, recent graduates or candidates with industrial experience welcome.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy desirable; A-level Chemistry beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse large datasets.
  • Appreciation of CAD/3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks), with willingness to develop skills further.
  • Excellent problem-solving mindset with a calm, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
