We are supporting a growing organisation within the automotive sector in hiring a skilled
Paint Development Engineer .
This role will act as the in‑house paint specialist, leading paint development activities, supporting new product design, managing supplier performance, and driving quality improvements.
The
Paint Development Engineer will
- Lead the development, testing, and approval of new colours, coatings, and finishes.
- Apply TS16949 methodologies such as PFD, PFMEA, QCPC, FPDR, and TPDR.
- Set, implement, and enforce aesthetic paint standards across internal and external operations.
- Lead process and facility re‑engineering activities to meet Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
- Support with the creation and deployment of aesthetic standards across the supply chain.
- Apply expert knowledge of liquid paint, powder coating, pre‑treatment, electro‑deposition, and paint application on ABS, aluminium, steel, and carbon fibre.
- The
Paint Development Engineer will have
- Proven experience in paint processes, ideally from a paint plant, automotive environment, or paint supplier development role.
- A technical or engineering qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong manufacturing background with experience working closely with suppliers.
- Solid commercial awareness, particularly regarding the cost impact of processes, standards, and bespoke finishes.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
You’ll have the chance to influence design, shape paint standards, and work closely with multiple teams to deliver world‑class finishes.
