Working within a growing technical team, the Scale-Up Chemist will support the development and scale‐up of novel chemical processes, contributing to the transition from R&D to production. This role combines laboratory work, process optimisation and scale‐up activities, with the opportunity to contribute to technology transfer and production readiness.
The Scale-Up Chemist will be responsible for:
- Supporting the scale‐up of chemical processes to kilogram‐plus production.
- Delivering high‐purity materials for sampling, analysis and testing.
- Designing and executing process improvements.
- Contributing to technology transfer activities and production documentation.
- Supporting safety studies, including HAZID and HAZOP.
- Carrying out quality control and stage‐gate analysis of materials.
The Scale-Up Chemist will have:
- A degree (BSc / MChem / MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
- Experience working at scale using jacketed reactor vessels (≈10L or larger) or similar systems.
- Experience working with high‐purity materials and managing low‐level impurities.
- An analytical approach with experience tracking materials and processes.
- Experience carrying out safety and risk assessments within scale‐up processes.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
