Our client is seeking a Test Engineer to join their cutting-edge battery testing and characterisation facility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining mechanical skills with computer-based tasks, contributing to innovative projects in the fast-growing energy storage sector.

The Test Engineer will:

  • Operate safely and reliably within a high-tech battery testing laboratory, maintaining strict health and safety standards.
  • Perform hands-on lab work, including sample preparation, physical measurements, and supporting testing campaigns.
  • Assemble, maintain, and improve lab equipment, fixtures, and test rigs to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Support installation and monitoring of battery cell testing campaigns, including troubleshooting and data handover.
  • Assist with glovebox-based experimental tasks such as cell teardown and component preparation.
  • Contribute to process improvements, developing workflows and SOPs to enhance efficiency and repeatability.

The Test Engineer will have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience in a lab or workshop environment.
  • Strong practical engineering skills and confidence working with tools and fixtures.
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach to precision tasks.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with computers and technical software for data handling and reporting.
  • Adaptable team player with clear communication skills and a proactive attitude.
