We are supporting a venture-backed engineering company developing breakthrough technology with the potential to transform its industry. Having successfully proven the technology, the business is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking a hands-on Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through commercialisation, scaling and international growth. This is not a role for someone looking to manage an established business. It is an opportunity to build one.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Board, investors and strategic partners, you will take full responsibility for the business, leading its transition from an early-stage engineering company into a commercially successful manufacturing business. You will provide leadership across commercial strategy, operations, engineering, fundraising and organisational growth while building a high-performing team capable of delivering the company's ambitious vision.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Led an early-stage engineering or deep-tech business as CEO or Managing Director.
- Successfully scaled a company from early commercialisation through rapid growth.
- Worked with institutional investors, Boards and strategic partners.
- Raised investment through venture capital, private equity, grants or strategic investors.
- Commercialised innovative hardware or engineering technology.
- Built and led multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience managing manufacturing, operations and H&S within an engineering environment.
- A genuine entrepreneurial mindset and passion for building businesses.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Defining and executing the company’s growth strategy.
- Leading fundraising activities and investor engagement.
- Building strategic partnerships with global engineering organisations.
- Scaling engineering, manufacturing and commercial operations.
- Developing the leadership team and organisational capability.
- Driving product commercialisation and international growth.
- Owning the company’s financial, operational and commercial performance.
The Person
You are an entrepreneurial leader who enjoys creating businesses rather than inheriting them. You are comfortable making decisions with limited resources, thrive in fast-moving environments, and enjoy working alongside engineers, investors and customers to turn innovative technology into commercial success. Most importantly, you are excited by the opportunity to build something meaningful.
Please note: This is a predominantly site-based leadership role in South Yorkshire during an important stage of the company’s growth.
