Job Description
A well-established motorcycle manufacturer is looking for a Lead Powertrain Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of powertrain systems, leading projects from concept through to production.
The Lead Powertrain Engineer will:
- Lead powertrain benchmarking activities and ensure alignment with industry and competitor standards.
- Oversee timelines, drawing releases, and design reviews across multiple projects.
- Provide technical leadership and act as deputy to the team leader when required.
- Drive first principles design and development of engine components and assemblies.
- Liaise with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing, cost, and quality goals.
- Mentor junior engineers, maintain departmental procedures, and contribute to engineering meetings and knowledge sharing.
The Lead Powertrain Engineer will have:
- Degree-qualified in Engineering or similar (2:1 or higher).
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in automotive or mechanical engineering.
- Strong 3D CAD skills (Pro-E or CREO preferred).
- Hands-on experience with engine design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 8D).
- Effective communication and leadership skills with experience managing suppliers and mentoring teams.
