We are looking for a

Mechanical Design Lead to lead the mechanical design & development of battery packs, battery modules and electrical enclosure systems for a range of advanced electrification applications.

This is still a hands-on role with some managerial requirements and scope to grow a team of mechanical engineers.

The

Mechanical Design Lead will be responsible for

  • Leading all mechanical design activities across battery, power conversion and electrification projects.
  • Driving the design and development of battery modules, battery packs and electrical enclosure systems.
  • Leading the packaging of electrical and electronic components, connectors, harnesses and high-voltage interconnects into robust mechanical assemblies.
  • Creating and reviewing 3D CAD models, component designs and manufacturing drawings.
  • Working with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise designs for cost, quality and manufacturability.
  • Managing component databases, BOMs and engineering documentation in line with company processes.
  • The

Mechanical Design Lead will have

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience designing and packaging battery systems, electrical assemblies and mechanical structures within prototype and production environments.
  • Strong experience producing manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation from 3D CAD models.
  • Advanced CAD experience using Solid Works, CATIA or Siemens NX.
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), GD&T and tolerance analysis.
