This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering engineering and manufacturing capability across both existing and new products. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead capital and process development activities, drive continuous improvement across production operations, and manage a team of production and process engineers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
The Engineering Manager will:
- Lead all engineering and manufacturing development activities across new and existing products.
- Define, design, install, and continuously improve production lines to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise to production and process engineering teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cycle time, equipment availability, and waste reduction.
- Manage departmental budgets, including capital expenditure and tooling investment.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, and cost profiles to ensure successful delivery.
- Analyse downtime, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions.
The Engineering Manager will have:
- A strong background in manufacturing engineering, ideally within CNC machining, assembly, and test operations in an automotive or Tier 1 environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams, operating with autonomy at senior management level.
- In-depth knowledge of CNC machining (3-to 5-axis), fixtures, machine tools, CAD (2D/3D), and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of automotive standards and quality systems, including IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/FMEA, and Lean / Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated experience delivering process improvement, NPI, and production scale-up programmes.
- Solid commercial awareness, with experience managing departmental budgets and capital expenditure.
- A relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification (degree preferred), with professional body membership advantageous.
