The Lead BMS Engineer will play a key role in the development of battery management system algorithms, supporting the design, calibration and validation of advanced battery control strategies. Working across battery systems, software and validation teams, you will contribute to the delivery of high-performance battery solutions from concept through to production.
The Lead BMS Engineer will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing BMS algorithms for State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), State of Power (SOP) and broader SOX estimation functions.
- Designing, calibrating and validating battery control strategies across different cell chemistries and applications.
- Creating mathematical models and estimation techniques, including equivalent circuit models and Kalman filtering approaches.
- Analysing cell and pack test data to improve model accuracy and algorithm performance.
- Defining calibration methodologies and supporting system integration activities.
- Collaborating with software teams to integrate algorithms into embedded BMS platforms.
The Lead BMS Engineer will have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline.
- Experience developing BMS algorithms and battery state estimation techniques.
- Strong understanding of SOC, SOH, SOP and SOX methodologies.
- Knowledge of battery modelling and lithium-ion cell behaviour.
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development approaches.
- Strong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
