A fast-scaling, advanced manufacturing business delivering one of the UK’s most significant industrial projects in electrification and clean technology is seeking a SCADA Developer - Solution Architect to lead the design, development, and integration of SCADA and PLC systems. This role will be responsible for designing robust control architectures, ensuring secure data connectivity, and supporting smart factory initiatives through scalable and resilient automation platforms.
Responsibilities
- Leading full project lifecycle for SCADA/automation systems from concept, budgeting, and design to FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover.
- Define technical scopes of work for automation and SCADA vendors, ensuring alignment with internal standards and functional requirements.
- Coordinate with process, facilities, EHS, and quality teams to align automation with operational goals.
- Design and implement robust SCADA system architecture for real-time control, data acquisition, diagnostics, and alarm handling across the plant.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering.
- Good experience in SCADA and PLC system development.
- Hands-on experience with multiple PLC platforms Siemens (TIA Portal), Rockwell Automation, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Omron Sysmac.
- Strong background in SCADA development (Ignition, WinCC, AVEVA, FactoryTalk).
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart utility systems.
- Experience with protocols like OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, Ethernet, Profinet etc.
- Solid understanding of industrial cybersecurity, change management, and validation compliance.
