Electromagnetic Engineer will lead the development of advanced electric traction motors, taking ownership of electromagnetic design activities from concept through to production.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will develop innovative motor solutions while balancing performance, efficiency, thermal requirements, manufacturability and cost.
This role is suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys combining first-principles engineering with simulation and practical development to solve complex electrification challenges.

Electromagnetic Engineer will be responsible for
- Leading the electromagnetic design and optimisation of electric traction motors from concept through to production.
- Developing and evaluating machine topologies including Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM), Electrically Excited Synchronous Machines (EESM) and hybrid machine architectures.
- Creating electromagnetic models using analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Taking ownership of motor performance characteristics including torque, efficiency, losses, field weakening and NVH.
- Supporting thermal analysis activities to ensure designs achieve performance and durability targets.
- Working closely with mechanical and controls engineers to support system integration, manufacturability and validation.

Electromagnetic Engineer will have
- A BEng, MEng or Ph D in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience designing electric traction motors that have progressed into production.
- Experience with both Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) and Electrically Excited Synchronous Machine (EESM) technologies.
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic machine theory and motor design principles.
- Extensive experience using electromagnetic simulation tools such as JMAG, Motor-CAD, Ansys Maxwell or similar.
- Experience correlating simulation results with physical test and validation data.
- Strong knowledge of magnetic materials, laminations, permanent magnets and winding technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
