Working within a growing technical team, the Scale-Up Chemist will support the development and scale‑up of novel chemical processes, contributing to the transition from R&D to production. This role combines laboratory work, process optimisation and scale‑up activities, with the opportunity to contribute to technology transfer and production readiness.

The Scale-Up Chemist will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the scale‑up of chemical processes to kilogram‑plus production.
  • Delivering high‑purity materials for sampling, analysis and testing.
  • Designing and executing process improvements.
  • Contributing to technology transfer activities and production documentation.
  • Supporting safety studies, including HAZID and HAZOP.
  • Carrying out quality control and stage‑gate analysis of materials.

The Scale-Up Chemist will have:

  • A degree (BSc / MChem / MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience working at scale using jacketed reactor vessels (≈10L or larger) or similar systems.
  • Experience working with high‑purity materials and managing low‑level impurities.
  • An analytical approach with experience tracking materials and processes.
  • Experience carrying out safety and risk assessments within scale‑up processes.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
