The Technical Buyer will play a key role in establishing and developing the procurement function as the company transitions from prototype development into low-volume production. Working closely with engineering and senior leadership, you will take ownership of sourcing strategy, supplier selection and commercial negotiations, building a high-performing supply network capable of supporting future growth.
The Technical Buyer will be responsible for:
- Leading the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier identification through to contract award.
- Working closely with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and source suitable suppliers.
- Reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications to support supplier selection and sourcing decisions.
- Negotiating commercial agreements covering pricing, quality, warranties, indemnities and long-term supply arrangements.
- Developing and managing supplier relationships to achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives.
- Conducting supplier assessments, audits and regular UK and international supplier visits.
The Technical Buyer will have:
- Experience in technical or direct procurement within automotive, aerospace, advanced engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and confidently discuss technical requirements with engineers and suppliers.
- Proven experience negotiating commercial agreements and supplier contracts.
- Strong supplier relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, growing business environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally to visit suppliers and manufacturing partners.
