We are currently looking for a Cost Engineer to join a leading vehicle manufacturer based in the UK. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate product costing, validating supplier quotations, and driving continuous cost optimisation across new and existing vehicle programmes.

The Cost Engineer will:

  • Prepare should-cost calculations and cost estimates to validate supplier quotations for technology parts and build-to-print components.
  • Support cost negotiations in collaboration with the Purchasing team.
  • Provide target cost estimates and evaluations throughout new product development.
  • Analyse material costs, tooling investments, and assembly costs.
  • Set up and maintain foreign exchange and raw-material commodity indexation matrices.
  • Support make-versus-buy assessments, sourcing strategies, and supplier negotiations.

The Cost Engineer will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 7+ years experience in cost engineering, product costing, or should-costing.
  • Experience within automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or premium/complex manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of machining, casting, forging, composites, and related manufacturing processes.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical capability and excellent attention to detail.
