The Lead Mechanical Engineer will take ownership of the design, development and delivery of advanced hardware systems built for operation in extreme environments. You will work across multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, high‑performance solutions, pushing design, materials and manufacturing approaches to meet demanding real‑world conditions.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:
- Leading the end‑to‑end design and delivery of mechanical systems from concept through to production and deployment.
- Driving material selection, sealing strategies, structural integrity and performance under thermal and mechanical stress.
- Supporting and guiding testing activities, including environmental and durability testing in extreme conditions.
- Working closely with electrical, software and systems teams to ensure seamless integration across products.
- Establishing quality and reliability standards to ensure consistent performance in challenging environments.
- Supporting field testing activities and engaging with stakeholders during development and deployment phases.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will have:
- 7+ years’ experience developing hardware, ideally within challenging or extreme operating environments.
- A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
- Advanced experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g. Siemens NX, SolidWorks, PDM).
- Proven experience delivering products from concept through to production, with strong understanding of DfMA principles.
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping, testing and working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- The ability to balance technical delivery with leadership, ownership and decision making.
