Our client is seeking a Functional Safety Systems Engineer to lead safety activities across traction inverters, power electronics, and associated control systems. This role covers the full ISO 26262 safety lifecycle and requires close collaboration with systems, hardware, controls, and software teams to ensure end to end safety compliance for safety critical automotive products.

The Functional Safety Systems Engineer will:

  • Lead functional safety activities at system and hardware level in accordance with ISO 26262.
  • Define, manage, and maintain functional and technical safety requirements throughout the lifecycle.
  • Develop functional, technical, system, and hardware safety concepts for e drive and power electronics products.
  • Perform and support safety analyses including HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
  • Contribute to hardware safety architecture, safety metrics (SPFM, LFM, PMHF), and implementation of safety mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure safety alignment between hardware, software, and controls.

The Functional Safety Systems Engineer will have:

  • Proven experience as a Functional Safety or Systems Engineer within automotive applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 across system and hardware development phases.
  • Hands on experience with traction inverters, power electronics, or electrified powertrain systems.
  • Practical experience performing FMEDA and other system/hardware safety analyses.
  • Familiarity with safety requirements management tools and traceability workflows.
  • Clear communication skills with a systematic, methodical approach to engineering tasks.
  • Experience of Probabilistic Metric of Hardware Failure (sometimes referred to by the more common acronym PMHF).
